Tom Jones Took the Virginity of This TV Star and She Needed Stitches
Tom Jones is a famous lady’s man, however not all of his sexual encounters have gone well. He once took the virginity of one of the biggest television celebrities of the 1980s. Here’s a look at who she was — and what happened during their intimate encounter.
This 1980s celebrity met Tom Jones while she was performing at a nude review in Las Vegas
It all starts with Las Vegas. Jones is one of the celebrities who’s closely associated with the city, like Siegfried & Roy, Wayne Newton, and Elvis Presley. Another celebrity worked there before she became famous: Cassandra Peterson, the actress behind Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.
During an interview with The A. V. Club, Peterson discussed how she met many celebrities over the years, including Jimi Hendrix, Vincent Price, and many others. “I would probably have to say the most famous is probably Elvis Presley, though,” Peterson recalled. “When I lived in Las Vegas, I was meeting everybody: Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Engelbert Humperdinck, Tom Jones—we won’t go there—but all these people that were working in Vegas a million years ago, way before I was Elvira.”
Peterson’s time with Jones was pretty intimate. According to Female First, Peterson met Jones while she was working a nude review and lost her virginity to him. “Tom seemed gentlemanly and nice, so when he was jumping on me… I thought, ‘Well, if I’m ever gonna do this, it might as well be with Tom Jones,’” she recalled.
What happened when Elvira got intimate with Tom Jones
Things went horribly awry. “It was painful and horrible.” Peterson reveals Jones was well-endowed and that she needed stitches after sleeping with him. Worse was the emotional pain she felt. “I thought for sure we were gonna run away together and get married. I went backstage to see him the next night, but he was with his two background singers… and was all over them.” Peterson was “disgusted” by this.
Did this experience ruin his music for her?
During an interview with Den of Geek, Tony Sokol asked Peterson if she still listened to Jones’ music. She revealed she was listening to his music in her dressing room the other day. Peterson was apparently still able to enjoy Jones’ discography even if she had an experience with him that was less than stellar.
How we might learn more about this infamous incident
Jones does not appear to have commented on the incident. According to Bloody Disgusting, Peterson said she was promised she would release her autobiography sometime in February 2020. That month came and went without a Peterson autobiography so it’s not clear if the book is still on its way. Perhaps Peterson will go into more detail about the time she lost her virginity in the book. Until then, fans are left with little tidbits of information about this difficult experience the Mistress of the Dark had with a legendary crooner.
